The Needy Shall Not Be Forgotten - Psalms 9:18

In Psalms chapter nine David said, “The LORD is known by the judgment which he executes: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah. The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God”, and in chapter nine and verse eighteen of Psalms David said, “the needy shall not always be forgotten” where we read,

For the needy shall not always be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever.

The verse begins, For the needy shall not alway be forgotten:” David began with the words, “For the needy” which means “because, since and on account that the people in want, need, destitute, begging and poor” “shall not always be forgotten” or “will in no way forever mislay or cease because of lack of memory or attention”. David declared that people who are in need, destitute and poor” will not continue in the state of being without remembrance or attention.

The verse continues, the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever.David added the words, “the expectation of the poor” or “the hope and anticipation belonging to the humble, afflicted, lowly and meek” “shall not perish for ever” which means “will in no way vanish, be destroyed and be exterminated into perpetuity and continual existence”. David wrote how people who are “destitute and meek” will in no way continue to be destroyed or exterminated.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through David how people who are in “need and destitute” will be remembered by God, and their hope will not be exterminated into perpetuity. God knows the needs of people which reminds us of the words Paul the apostle wrote, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (See Philippians 4:19) Mankind's greatest need is spiritual because sin has separated them from God. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of mankind, and whenever they yield themselves to Him, He will forgive their sins and grant them everlasting life. Those who exist as “poor and destitute” whether spiritually or physically are remembered by Jehovah God, and we may give Him praise and honor for His willingness and ability to alter the state of them for all eternity.

Next time David says, “Arise, O LORD; let not man prevail”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
