In Psalms chapter nine David said, “The LORD is known by the judgment which he executes: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah”, and in chapter nine and verse seventeen of Psalms David said, “The wicked shall be turned into hell” where we read,
The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
The verse begins, “The wicked shall be turned into hell, …” David began with the words, “the wicked” which means “the guilty ones, criminals, ungodly and wrongdoers” “shall be turned into hell” or “will go down to the sheol, the grave, the underworld and the pit”. David shared how those who commit evil will be sent to the grave for punishment and abandonment.
The verse goes on to say, “... and all the nations that forget God.” David continued with the words, “and all the nations” or “and each, every, the whole and everyone of the pagan people and heathens” “that forget God” which means “who are oblivious to the Divine and Supreme judge and ruler”. David wrote how every people group who disregards and is oblivious to “the Supreme God” will also be sent to the grave for punishment and abandonment.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through David the fate of people and nations who “forget” about God and are “evil doers”. They will be judged, and they shall spend eternity separated from God who desired to be their personal “Savior and Lord”. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for the sins of mankind. John the apostle wrote, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” (See John 3:16-17) God wants to save the “wicked” from this destiny, and anyone who believes and trusts in His Son Jesus will be “saved” from eternal damnation and separation from Him. Should they choose to reject, refuse and be oblivious to His “salvation plan”, they will in effect catch themselves in their own decision and regret it for all eternity.
Next time David says, “the needy shall not always be forgotten”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
