Into Your Hand I Commit My Spirit - Psalms 31:5

In Psalms chapter thirty one David said to Jehovah, “you are my rock and my fortress; therefore for your name's sake lead me, and guide me. Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for you are my strength”, and in chapter thirty one and verse five of Psalms David said to Jehovah, “Into your hand I commit my spirit” where we read,

Into your hand I commit my spirit: you have redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.

The verse begins, Into your hand I commit my spirit:” David began with the words, “Into your hand” which means “into your, Jehovah God's, power, service and strength” “I commit my spirit” or “I, David, appoint, reckon and make overseer of my, David's, mind, vivacity, vigor , courage, desire and living”. David told Jehovah God that he entrusted and appointed his mind, desires and living to Him.

The verse continues, you have redeemed me, O LORD God of truth. David added the words, “you have redeemed me” or “you, Jehovah God, have ransomed, rescued and delivered me, David”, “O LORD” which means “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God” “God of truth” or “firm, faithful, sure and reliable Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”. David referred to how Jehovah God who is firm, faithful and reliable rescued and delivered him.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see David use words that were employed by Jesus as He hung on the cross. Luke the beloved physician wrote, “And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into your hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost”, (See Luke 23:46) and David's words were inspired prophetically not only to speak to his own situation, but also to show the world Jesus Christ is Jehovah God's Messiah. God loves us, and when we “commit” our “spirits” to Him through His Son Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow His “truth” to pour into us every day of our lives.

Next time David says to Jehovah, I have hated them that regard lying vanities, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
