In Psalms one hundred and three David said, “as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us”, and in chapter one hundred three and verse thirteen of Psalms David said, “the LORD pities them that fear him” where we read,
Like as a father pities his children, so the LORD pities them that fear him.
The verse begins, “Like as a father pities his children, ...” David began with the words, “like as a father” or “similar and in likeness to the head or founder of a household, family, clan or group” “pities his children” which means “loves, has compassion upon and tender affection toward his, the father's, offspring and progeny”. David began to compare Jehovah God's love to the way a male progenitor cares and has affection for his offspring.
The verse continues, “... so the LORD pities them that fear him.” David added the words, “so the LORD” or “even so and also Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “pities them” which means “has compassion upon and tender affection toward the people whether male or female” “that fear him” or “who have reverence, awe and respect to him, Jehovah God”. David said Jehovah God loves, has compassion upon and affection for the people who reverence Him and keep Him in awe.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David compared the way Jehovah God loves and cares for people to the manner in which a “father” has affection and tender compassion upon his children. God loves us, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and assure us of His care and concern for us by His Holy Spirit who will be with us every day.
Next time David says Jehovah God, “knows our frame”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
