God Will Bring It Forth - Zechariah 5:4

In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “then I turned, and lifted up my eyes, and looked, and behold a flying roll. And he said unto me, What do you see? And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits. Then said he unto me, This is the curse that goes forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that steals shall be cut off as on this side according to it; and every one that swears shall be cut off as on that side according to it”, and in chapter five and verse four of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how Jehovah God said, “I will bring it forth” where we read,

I will bring it forth, says the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that swears falsely by my name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.

The verse reads, I will bring it forth, says the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, ... Zechariahbegan with the words, “I will bring it forth” or “I, Jehovah God, shall cause it to proceed, depart and lead the curse”, “says the LORD of hosts” which means “utters, declares and proclaims Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God who is over the spiritual army of angels and warriors”, “and it shall enter into the house” or “and the curse will proceed and go in the dwelling place, habitation and abode” “of the thief” which means “belonging to the person who steals”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God would cause the curse to proceed within the dwelling places of people who steal.

The verse continues, “... and into the house of him that swears falsely by my name: Zechariah added the words, “and the house” or “and in the dwelling place, habitation and abode” “of him that swears falsely” which means “belonging to the person whether male or female who adjures and takes an oath in a deceptive, false, fraudulent and wrong manner” “by my name” or “through the means and use of my, Jehovah God's, fame, reputation and glory”. Zechariah shared how the curse would also be inside the dwelling place of a person who takes and oath in a fraudulent and deceptive manner using the fame, reputation and glory of Jehovah God.

Finally the verse says, “and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.” Zechariah concluded this verse with the words, “and it shall remain” or “and it, the curse, will continue” “in the midst of his house” which means “in the middle of his, the person who swears falsely”, “and shall consume it” or “and will end, finish and use up the house” “with the timber thereof” which means “in the company of the wood, stock, planks and gallows” “and the stones thereof” or “and the marble plummets, carbuncles and weighted stones within the dwelling place”. Zechariah ended this verse by sharing how Jehovah God said the “curse” would continue within the middle of the abode and would ruin and destroy the wood stocks and weighted carbuncles therein.

When we mediate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah how Jehovah God would involve Himself within the lives of people who were thieves and liars. A “curse” sent by God and written upon a “flying roll” would not only be upon those who steal and lie, but also would continue within their homes and consume both the “wood and stone” therein. God wants us to keep His law (See Exodus 20), but because we violate His commandments and thereby sin, He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the errors, wrongs and mistakes of all mankind. When we humble ourselves, repent of our sins and believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and cleanse us from all unrighteousness and keep us from experiencing the “curse” that comes upon “thieves and liars”.

Next time Zechariah shares how the angel told him to, “lift up now your eyes, and see”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
