In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah said “And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one. All the land shall be turned as a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem: and it shall be lifted, up, and inhabited in her place, from Benjamin's gate unto the place of the first gate, unto the corner gate, and from the tower of Hananeel unto the king's wine”, and in chapter fourteen and verse eleven of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how Jehovah God said, “men shall dwell in it” with “no more destruction” where we read,
And men shall dwell in it, and there shall be no more utter destruction;
but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited.
The verse reads, “And men shall dwell in it, and there shall be no more utter destruction;” Zechariah began with the words, “and men shall dwell in it” or “and people both male and female will live, abide and make habitation within it, Jerusalem”, “and there shall be no more utter destruction” which means “and there shall exist not any longer complete extermination”. Zechariah shared how people will live within “Jerusalem” and there would not longer be devastation and ruin within it.
The verse continues, “but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited.” Zechariah added the words, “but Jerusalem” or “however, notwithstanding, nonetheless and moreover Jerusalem whose name means teaching of peace and is the chief city of Palestine and capital of the united kingdom and the nation of Judah after the split” “shall be safely inhabited” which means “will dwell, abide and remain in a confident, assured and secure manner”. Zechariah shared how people will dwell within the city of “Jerusalem” that has been made safe and secure by Jehovah God.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah how the city of “Jerusalem” will have people living within it, and complete extermination would no longer exist there. The people will be safe and secure within Jerusalem's boundaries. God will allow the people living in “Jerusalem” to be assured of His presence, and this is available for every person who yields to God's Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and permit us to live in the “New Jerusalem” which will have Jesus ruling and reigning as LORD and King. (Revelation 3:12; 21:2)
Next time Zechariah says, “this shall be a plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
