No Sin Neither Guile 1 Peter 2:22

Peter the apostle told the “scattered” Christians they were “called” to be “servants” who take “suffering” and “buffeting” “patiently” even when their “masters” treated them “wrongfully” because “Christ also suffered for us” which left “an example” so they “should follow his steps”. In chapter two and verse twenty-two, Peter told them Jesus “did no sin, neither was” he “found with “guile” “in his mouth” where we read:

Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

The verse begins, “Who did no sin,...” Peter began with the words, “Who did no” which refers to Jesus not “doing, making ready, preparing or producing” “sin” which means “to miss the mark, to err, wander from the law of God and violate God's law”. Jesus never sinned.

The verse goes on to say, “...neither was guile found in his mouth:” Peter continued, “neither” or “no, not and not even” “was guile” which means “craft or deceit” “found” or “to come upon, hit upon or meet with after searching” “in his mouth” which refers to “thoughts of a man's soul find verbal utterance by his mouth, by which the heart or soul and the mouth are distinguished”. Jesus never employed “craft nor deceit” when He spoke to others.

When we think about Peter's words, we discover how “holy” Jesus was. He had “no sin”, and there was “never any craft or deceit” in His voice. Yet, He still suffered for us. He was and is our “example” of how to “suffer wrongfully” “patiently”, and the more we meditate upon the manner in which He lived, the more we admire just who He was.

Next time Peter shares what Jesus did when He “suffered” and was “reviled”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
