Paul the
apostle told the Ephesian church members “God, who is rich in
mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us” “even when we
were dead in our trespasses and sins” has “made us alive”
“together with Christ”and by “grace we are saved”.
In chapter two and verse six of his letter, Paul shared how we are
“raised up together” and has “made us sit” in
“heavenly places” where we read:
The verse begins, “And
has raised us
up together,...” Paul
began with the phrase, “And has
raised us up together”
which is one Greek word “synegeirō”
which means “to
raise up together from mortal death to a new and blessed life
dedicated to God”. In addition to being
“saved by grace”,
God has brought us from “death” to a “blessed life” which is
“dedicated to God”.
The
verse continues, “...and made us
sit together in heavenly places
in Christ Jesus:” Paul
added, “and made us sit together”
or “to have, place or take a seat in company with” “in
heavenly places in”
which means “the heavenly regions” “in
Christ”
who is “the anointed one” “Jesus”
whose name means “Jehovah is Salvation” and is “the
Son of God, the Savior of mankind, God incarnate”.
Not only has God “raised us up
together”
but He also allowed us to accompany or “sit”
in the “heavenly regions” with Jesus Christ.
When
we think through these words of Paul, we can only imagine what this
means for us. We have been transferred from a place of “spiritual
deadness” and “separation from God” to a position that is in
close proximity to Him “in the heavenly places”. We are
blessed beyond our wildest dreams as we only begin to understand what
this means for us who have trusted in, relied upon and clung to Jesus
Christ. May He continue to pour out His wonderful blessings upon us
as we enjoy the magnificent benefits of His grace.
Next
time Paul shares about the “exceeding riches of his
grace”, so read ahead, and we
shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
