Shimronmeron and Achshaph - Joshua 12:20

In the book of Joshua, we learned how, “these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other western side of Jordan” which included, “the kings of Jericho, Ai, which is beside Bethel, Jarmuth, Lachish, Eglon, Gezer, Debir,, Geder, Hormah, Arad, Libnah, Adullam, Makkedah, Bethel, Aphek, Lasharon, Madon and Hazor”, and in chapter twelve and verse twenty of Joshua we discover how “Israel” conquered, “the king of Shimronmeron” and “the king of Achshaph” where we read,

The king of Shimronmeron, one; the king of Achshaph, one;

The verse reads, “The king of Shimronmeron, one;” Joshua or the writer began with the words, “the king” which means “the royal ruler and leader” “of Shimronmeron” or “belonging to Shimronmeron whose name means ‘watch-height’ of Meron”, “one” which means “a single royal ruler and leader”. Joshua or the writer shared how the royal ruler and territory belonging to “Shimronmeron” was also conquered by “Joshua” and the people of “Israel”

The verse continues, “the king of Achshaph”; one;” Joshua or the writer continued with the words, “the king” which means “the royal ruler and leader” “of Achshaph” or “belonging to Achshaph whose name means ‘I shall be bewitched’ and was city in north Canaan at foot of Mt Carmel”, “one” which means “a single royal ruler and leader”. Joshua or the writer included the royal leader and region of “Achshaph” among the lands which were defeated by “Joshua” and the army of “Israel”

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn about two more of the royal rulers and their territories, “Shimronmeron and Achshaph”, which were overtaken by “Joshua” and the people of “Israel”. God was on the move on behalf of the people of “Israel”, and He defeated these people groups to fulfill His word to “Israel” to give them the promise land. God keeps His promises, and He promised to give forgiveness of sins and eternal life to every person who submits to His Son Jesus who was crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind and was resurrected from the dead after three days. When we put our faith and trust in Him, God will give us His Holy Spirit who will guide us into all truth and teach us the value of aligning with Him in all our ways so we too may inherit that which He has promised in keeping with His perfect purpose and will.

Next time we see how “Israel” conquered, “the king of Taanach” and “the king of Megiddo”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Madon and Hazor - Joshua 12:19

In the book of Joshua, we learned how, “these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other western side of Jordan” which included, “the kings of Jericho, Ai, which is beside Bethel, Jarmuth, and Lachish, Eglon and Gezer, Debir, and Geder, Hormah, Arad, Libnah, Adullam, Makkedah, Bethel, Aphek and Lasharon, Aphek and Lasharon”, and in chapter twelve and verse nineteen of Joshua we discover how “Israel” conquered, “the king of Madon” and “the king of Hazor” where we read,

The king of Madon,, one; the king of Hazor, one;

The verse reads, “The king of Madon, one;” Joshua or the writer began with the words, “the king” which means “the royal ruler and leader” “of Madon” or “belonging to Madon whose name means ‘strife’ and was one of the principal cities of Canaan who joined Jabin and his confederates in their battle against Joshua at the waters of Merom and were defeated”, “one” which means “a single royal ruler and leader”. Joshua or the writer shared how the royal ruler and region of “Madon” were among the territories occupied by “Joshua” and “Israel”

The verse continues, “the king of Hazor”; one;” Joshua or the writer continued with the words, “the king” which means “the royal ruler and leader” “of Hazor” or “belonging to Hazor whose name means ‘castle’ and was one of the cities of Judah in the extreme south”, “one” which means “a single royal ruler and leader”. Joshua or the writer included the royal leader and land belonging to “Hazor” were also among the territories conquered by “Joshua” and the people of “Israel”

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we discover the names of two more of the royal rulers and territories which were occupied by “Israel”. “Madon” and “Hazor” and their leaders were defeated by “Joshua” and the army of “Israel”, and now they were to dwell within their lands. God did this for “Israel” because He loves them, and even as He provides for them, He will also provide for anyone who will yield their life to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind and was raised from the dead after three days. When we align with His way of salvation through Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide His Holy Spirit who will guide us into all truth and give us the wisdom to know when to engage in spiritual battle and when to receive that which He has given to us.

Next time we see how “Israel” conquered, “the king of Shimronmeron” and “the king of Achshaph”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Aphek and Lasharon - Joshua 12:18

In the book of Joshua, we learned how, “these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other western side of Jordan” which included, “the kings of Jericho, Ai, which is beside Bethel, Jarmuth, and Lachish, Eglon and Gezer, Debir, and Geder, Hormah, Arad, Libnah, Adullam, Makkedah, Bethel, Aphek and Lasharon”, and in chapter twelve and verse eighteen of Joshua we discover how “Israel” conquered, “the king of Aphek” and“the king of Lasharon” where we read,

The king of Aphek,, one; the king of Lasharon, one;

The verse reads, “The king of Aphek, one;” Joshua or the writer began with the words, “the king” which means “the royal ruler and leader” “of Aphek” or “belonging to Aphek or Aphik whose name means ‘enclosure’ and was a Canaanite city near Jezreel”, “one” which means “a single royal ruler and leader”. Joshua or the writer shared how the royal ruler of “Aphek” was also among the territories that “Joshua” and the people of “Israel” conquered.

The verse continues, “the king of Lasharon”; one;” Joshua or the writer continued with the words, “the king” which means “the royal ruler and leader” “of Lasharon” or “belonging to  Lasharon whose name means ‘a plain or level” and was the district lying between the mountains of central Palestine and the Mediterranean Sea and north of Joppa”, “one” which means “a single royal ruler and leader”. Joshua or the writer shared how the royal leader and territories belonging to “Lasharon” were among the lands which were occupied by “Joshua” and the people of “Israel”

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the royal rulers and the territories of “Aphek” and “Lasharon” were two more of the regions overtaken by “Joshua” and the people of “Israel”. Sometimes a list of names in the Bible can seem tedious to study, however, we should keep in mind that these were people who were living in defiance to God on the earth. For this reason, God removed them and put the people of “Israel” in their dwelling places. God wants everyone to obey Him, and when we receive His Son Jesus who was crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind and was raised from the dead after three days as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, regardless of how wicked we have been, and grant us everlasting life with Him. He will also give us His Holy Spirit who will guide us into all truth as He leads us into the inheritance He has provided for us in this life and the next in Heaven with Him.

Next time we see how “Israel” conquered, “the king of Madon” and “the king of Hazor”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Tappuah and Hepher - Joshua 12:17

In the book of Joshua, we learned how, “these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other western side of Jordan” which included, “the kings of Jericho, Ai, which is beside Bethel, Jarmuth, and Lachish, Eglon and Gezer, Debir, and Geder, Hormah, Arad, Libnah, Adullam, Makkedah and Bethel”, and in chapter twelve and verse seventeen of Joshua we discover how “Israel” conquered, “the king of Tappuah” and “the king of Hepher” where we read,

The king of Tappuah, one; the king of Hepher, one;

The verse reads, “the king of Tappuah, one;” Joshua or the writer began with the words, “the king” which means “the royal ruler and leader” “of Tappuah” or “belonging to Tappuah whose name means ‘the apple city’ and was a town in the lowland of Judah, “one” which means “a single royal ruler and leader”. Joshua or the writer shared how the royal ruler and territory belonging to “Tappuah” was among the areas of victory taken by “Joshua” and the people of “Israel”.

The verse continues, “the king of Bethel”; one;” Joshua or the writer continued with the words, “the king” which means “the royal ruler and leader” “of Hepher” or “belonging to Hepher whose name means ‘a well’ and was a place in ancient Canaan, west of the Jordan, conquered by Joshua site unknown”, “one” which means “a single royal ruler and leader”. Joshua or the writer shared how the royal leader and territory belonging to “Bethel” were among the regions conquered by “Joshua” and the people of “Israel”.

When we think through the words in this verse, we discover another two names of the territories and their royal rulers who were defeated by “Joshua” and the people of “Israel”. “Tappuah” and “Bethel” were the next places listed. Little by little God was giving the people of “Israel” the promise land just the way He said. (See Exodus 23:30) God was and is the protector and defender of “Israel” because they are the nation through whom the entire world is to be blessed. (See Genesis 12:3) God sent His Son Jesus into the world through the people of “Israel” so He could be crucified for the sins of all mankind and be raised from the dead after three days. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put His Holy Spirit within us to guide us into all truth and to lead us into victory after victory, “little by little”, according to His perfect will and purpose for our lives.

Next time we see how “Israel” conquered, “the king of Aphek, one; the king of Lasharon”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

The King of Makkedah and Bethel - Joshua 12:16

In the book of Joshua, we learned how, “these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other western side of Jordan” which included, “the kings of Jericho, Ai, which is beside Bethel, Jarmuth, and Lachish, Eglon and Gezer, Debir, and Geder, Hormah, Arad Libnah and Adullam”, and in chapter twelve and verse sixteen of Joshua we discover how “Israel” conquered, “the king of Makkedah” and “the king of Bethel” where we read,

The king of Makkedah, one; the king of Bethel, one;

The verse reads, “The king of Makkedah, one;” Joshua or the writer began with the words, “the king” which means “the royal ruler and leader” “of Makkedah” or “belonging to Makkedah whose name means ‘place of shepherds’ and was the location of a cave in Judah where Joshua captured and executed five Canaanite kings during the conquest; located near Bethhoron and Libnah”, “one” which means “a single royal ruler and leader”. Joshua or the writer shared how the royal ruler and the territory belonging to “Makkedah” was overtaken by “Joshua” and the people of “Israel”

The verse continues, “the king of Bethel”; one;” Joshua or the writer continued with the words, “the king” which means “the royal ruler and leader” “of Bethel” or “belonging to Bethel whose name means ‘house of God’ and was a place in south country of Judah, not far from Beersheba and Ziklag”, “one” which means “a single royal ruler and leader”. Joshua or the writer also shared how the royal ruler and the territory belonging to “Bethel” were conquered by “Joshua” and the people of “Israel”

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn about two more of the royal rulers and regions which were overtaken by “Israel”, "Makkedah and Bethel”. God was giving these areas to the people of “Israel” because He promised them they would receive it. He orchestrated and accomplished all these victories, and to Him should be all the glory and honor. God has also made the way through belief and trust in His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind and was raised from the dead after three days to be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and equipped with His Holy Spirit who will guide us into all truth and give us the wisdom when to battle and when to receive that which He has given to us.

Next time we see how “Israel” conquered, “the king of Tappuah” and “the king of Hepher”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

The King of Libnah and Adullam - Joshua 12:15

In the book of Joshua, we learned how, “these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other western side of Jordan” which included, “the kings of Jericho, Ai, which is beside Bethel, Jarmuth, and Lachish, Eglon and Gezer, Debir, and Geder, Hormah and Arad”, and in chapter twelve and verse fifteen of Joshua we discover how “Israel” conquered, “the king of Libnah” and the king of Adullam” where we read,

The king of Libnah, one; the king of Adullam, one;

The verse reads, “The king of Libnah, one;” Joshua or the writer began with the words, “the king” which means “the royal ruler and leader” “of Libnah” or “belonging to Libnah whose name means ‘pavement’ and was a royal city of the Canaanites in the southwest captured by Joshua; allocated to Judah and made a Levitical city; site unknown”, “one” which means “a single royal ruler and leader”. Joshua or the writer shared how Jehovah God gave the royal ruler belonging to “Libnah” to “Joshua” and the people of “Israel”.

The verse goes on to say, “the king of Adullam”; one;” Joshua or the writer continued with the words, “the king” which means “the royal ruler and leader” “of Adullam” or “belonging to Adullam whose name means ‘justice of the people’ and was a town of the Canaanites allotted to Judah and lying in the lowlands; site of the cave where David hid”, “one” which means “a single royal ruler and leader”. Joshua or the writer shared how “Joshua” and the people of “Israel” also overtook the royal ruler and territory belonging to “Adullam”

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how Jehovah God also provided the territories which were ruled by “Libnah” and “Adullum” to the people of “Israel”. One by one God was giving the people of “Israel” the promise land, and He has given us the promise of eternal life when we yield to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind and was raised from the dead after three days. As we put our faith and trust in Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put His Holy Spirit within us to guide us into all truth and help us to inherit all He has for us in His Kingdom. (See John 3:16)

The King of Hormah and Arad - Joshua 12:14

In the book of Joshua, we learned In the book of Joshua, we learned how, “these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other western side of Jordan” which included, “the kings of Jericho, Ai, which is beside Bethel, Jarmuth, and Lachish, Eglon and Gezer, Debir, and Geder”, and in chapter twelve and verse fourteen of Joshua we discover how “Israel” conquered, “the king of Hormah” and “the king of Arad” where we read,

The king of Hormah, one; the king of Arad, one;

The verse reads, “The king of Hormah, one;” Joshua or the writer began with the words, “the king” which means “the royal ruler and leader” “of Hormah” or “belonging to Harmah whose name means ‘devotion’ and was a town of the Canaanites which was conquered by Joshua and allotted to Judah and located in the south of Judah”, “one” which means “a single royal ruler and leader”. Joshua or the writer included the royal ruler of “Hormah” who was among the leaders that “Israel” conquered and possessed their land.

The verse goes on to say, “the king of Arad, one;” Joshua or the writer continued with the words, “the king” which means “the royal ruler and leader” “of Arad” or “belonging to Arad whose name means ‘a wild ass’ and was a royal city of the Canaanites north of the wilderness of Judah”, “one” which means “a single royal ruler and leader”. Joshua or the writer included the royal ruler of “Hormah” who was among the leaders that “Israel” conquered and possessed their land.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn about two more “kings” and their territories which were conquered by “Israel”. The leaders of “Hormah and Arad” were next on the list of the people and territories that were defeated. Each of these were given to “Israel” by Jehovah God, and they all demonstrated God’s progressive giving of the “promise land” to them. God loves “Israel”, and He loves us. When He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind and raised Him from the dead after three days, He made the way through faith and trust in Him to be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and provided with His Holy Spirit who will guide us into all truth and progressively give us all the inheritance He has for us in this life and the next.

Next time we see how “Israel” conquered, “the king of Libnah” and “the king of Adullam”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
