Jesus Would Not See Corruption - Acts 13:35

Luke the beloved physician wrote how Paul spoke to the people in the synagogue in Antioch about Jesus' death, burial and resurrection, and afterward referred to the Psalms that reads, “You are my Son, this day have I begotten you. And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David”, and in chapter thirteen and verse thirty-five of the book of Acts Luke shared to how Paul referred to how David said, “you shall not suffer your Holy One to see corruption” where we read:

Wherefore he said also in another psalm, You shall not suffer your Holy One to see corruption.

The verse begins, “Wherefore he said also in another psalm, ... Luke began with the words, “wherefore he said also” which means “then, therefore and on this account the psalmist uttered, declared and proclaimed even so and indeed” “in another psalm” or “in one other psalm which literally means striking the chords of a musical instrument or a pious song”. Luke shared how “Paul” referred to another “psalm” where the following words were written.

The verse continues, “... You shall not suffer your Holy One to see corruption. Luke added the words, “you shall not suffer” which means “You, God the Heavenly Father, will not allow or permit” “your Holy One” or “Your, God the Heavenly Father's, sacred, pure, morally blameless and religiously and ceremonially consecrated One, Jesus” “to see corruption” which means “to experience, perceive or become acquainted with destruction or decay of the physical body”. (See Psalm 16:10) Luke shared how the psalmist declared that God the Heavenly Father would not allow His Son Jesus' body to decay after His death.

When we think through Luke's words in this verse, we learn how “Paul” once again referred to the psalms which spoke prophetically concerning Jesus' resurrection. Many people within the synagogues did not understand the Messiah would come, suffer death and afterward be resurrected from the dead, so “Paul” led the people in the synagogue to the prophetic words concerning Him. God loves people, and His desire is to have a personal relationship with every one of them through His Son Jesus. When they submit to Jesus, their sins will be forgiven and they will be granted everlasting life. Let all who read “Paul's” words surrender to Jesus and align with God's prophesy concerning the resurrection of His Son.

Next time Luke shares how Paul refers to how David, “served his own generation by the will of God”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
