Coming to Reign Out of Prison - Ecclesiastes 4:14

In the book of Ecclesiastes, Solomon said, “Better is a poor and a wise child than an old and foolish king, who will no more be admonished”, and in chapter four and verse fourteen of his book Solomon said, “out of prison he comes to reign”, where we read,

For out of prison he comes to reign; whereas also he that is born in his kingdom becomes poor.

The verse reads, For out of prison he comes to reign; Solomon began with the words, “for out of prison” or “because, since and on account that from a bound and harnessed household, family or dwelling place” “he comes to reign” which means “he, the poor and wise child, exits and proceeds to the throne and rules”. Solomon said the “poor and wise child” may ascend from their “prison-like” household to rule over a kingdom.

The verse continues, “whereas also he that is born in his kingdom becomes poor.” Solomon  added the words, “whereas also he that is born” or “even so and indeed he, the person, who is birthed” “in his kingdom” which means “within his, royal rule, reign and dominion” “becomes poor” or “ascended from poverty, lack and hunger”. Solomon shared how the person who is birthed in the royal dominion ascends to the throne even though he was impoverished.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how a person who was poor and impoverished might rise to rule in a kingdom even though he ascended from meager means. God gives people wisdom, talents and abilities, and regardless of where they were “born”, they may rise to positions of authority with His aid and assistance. God wants everyone to be in a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus who came into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and He rose from the grave after three days so everyone who puts their faith and trust in Him may be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and equipped with the wisdom and direction of His Holy Spirit regardless of where they were born and what the conditions were in which they grew.

Next time Solomon says, “I considered all the living which walk under the sun”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
