In the Multitude of Dreams and Words - Ecclesiastes 5:7

In the book of Ecclesiastes, Solomon said, “Suffer not your mouth to cause your flesh to sin; neither say you before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at your voice, and destroy the work of your hands?, and in chapter five and verse seven of his book Solomon said, “in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities”, where we read,

For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear you God.

The verse reads, For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: Solomon began with the words, “for in the multitude of dreams” or “because, since and on account that within the abundance and numerous amounts of fantasies and visions” “and many words” which means “and numerous utterances and declarations” “there are also divers vanities” or “there exists even so and indeed differing vapors, breaths and transitory dissatisfactions”. Solomon declared that within a numerous amount of visions and a great number of utterances there exists differing transitory dissatisfactions.

The verse goes on to say, “but fear you God.” Solomon continued with the words, “but fear you” or “however, notwithstanding, nonetheless and moreover you, readers of Solomon’s words, revere, honor, respect and be in awe of” “God” which means “the Supreme Deity Jehovah God”. Solomon instructed his readers to have awe and respect toward the Supreme Deity Jehovah God.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how he believed that numerous visions and utterances were accompanied by vapor and transitory dissatisfaction. In other words, “dreams and superfluous words” end in vain efforts. God doesn’t want it to be this way, and because He loves us, He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. He raised Him from the dead after three days so when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put His Holy Spirit within us to guide us into all truth and help us to keep our “visions and words” in alignment with His eternal purposes for His Kingdom and our lives.

Next time Solomon says, “If you see the oppression of the poor … marvel not at the matter”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
