The beloved physician Luke wrote how Paul spoke to the people in the synagogue in Antioch and said, “When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel. And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think you that I am? I am not he. But, behold, there comes one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose. Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you fears God, to you is the word of this salvation sent. For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him. And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain. And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulcher”, and in chapter thirteen and verse thirty of the book of Acts Luke shared how Paul referred to how, “God raised him from the dead” where we read:
But God raised him from the dead:
The verse begins, “But God raised him ...” Luke began with the words, “but God” which means “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover the Heavenly Father God” “raised him” or “caused to rise and resurrected Jesus”. Luke shared how “Paul” said “the Heavenly Father God” resurrected Jesus.
The verse goes on to say, “... from the dead:” Luke added the words, “from the dead” which means “apart and separated from the non-living, deceased, destitute of life and inanimate”. Luke shared how “God” the Heavenly Father “resurrected” Jesus from the non-living and deceased.
When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we learn how “Paul” continued his discourse to the people in the synagogue by referring to how “God” raised Jesus from the “dead”. God allowed Jesus to be crucified for the sins of the world, however, He raised Him from the dead three days later. Jesus' death provided a way for people to be forgiven of their sins, and His resurrection provided the hope for eternal life for everyone who believes and trusts in Him. God loves everyone, and His plan and purpose is to “save” every person who believes and trusts in His Son Jesus. Let all who consider the “resurrection” of Jesus understand God's desire to have a personal relationship with them, and may they yield themselves to Him as their “Savior and Lord”.
Next time Luke shares how Paul refers to how Jesus, “was seen many days of them which came up with him”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
