Jesus Seen of Many After the Resurrection - Acts 13:31

Luke the beloved physician wrote how Paul spoke to the people in the synagogue in Antioch and said, “When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel. And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think you that I am? I am not he. But, behold, there comes one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose. Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you fears God, to you is the word of this salvation sent. For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him. And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain. And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulcher. But God raised him from the dead”, and in chapter thirteen and verse thirty-one of the book of Acts Luke shared to how Paul referred to how Jesus, “was seen many days of them which came up with him” where we read:

And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem,

who are his witnesses unto the people.

The verse begins, “And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, ... Luke began with the words, “and he was seen many days” which means “and Jesus was observed, noticed and beheld a great and abundant number of days” “of them which came up with him” or “by people who arose and appeared alongside Jesus” “from Galilee” which means “from the area of Galilee whose name means circuit and was the name of a region of northern Palestine, bounded on the north by Syria, on the west by Sidon, Tyre, Ptolemais and their territories and the promontory of Carmel, on the south by Samaria and on the east by the Jordan “to Jerusalem” or “to the city of Jerusalem whose name means set you double peace and is the capital of Palestine”. Luke shared how Jesus was “seen” after His resurrection by many of the people who came alongside Him and were from “Galilee to Jerusalem” (See 1 Corinthians 15:6).

The verse continues, “... who are his witnesses unto the people. Luke added the words, “who are his witnesses” which means “the people who saw Jesus after His resurrection exist as Jesus' testifiers and recorders” “unto the people” or “to the human beings both male and female”. Luke shared how the people who “saw” Jesus after His resurrection became “witnesses” to others concerning Him.

When we think through Luke's words in this verse, we learn how “Paul” told the people in the synagogue about the followers of Jesus who saw Him after His resurrection. These “witnesses” began to tell others about Jesus rising from the dead, and this was used by the Lord to draw people into a personal relationship with Him. Whenever a person yields their life to Jesus who was raised from the dead, they will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with God. Let all who read these words surrender to Jesus and become “witnesses” of the resurrected “Lord and Savior” of the world.

Next time Luke shares how Paul says, “we declare unto you glad tidings”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
