Jesus Saw No Corruption - Acts 13:37

Luke the beloved physician wrote how Paul spoke to the people in the synagogue in Antioch about Jesus' death, burial and resurrection, and afterward referred to the Psalms that read, “You are my Son, this day have I begotten you. And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David. Wherefore he said also in another psalm, You shall not suffer your Holy One to see corruption. For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption”, and in chapter thirteen and verse thirty-seven of the book of Acts Luke shared to how Paul refers to how Jesus, “saw no corruption” where we read:

But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.

The verse begins, “But he, whom God raised again, ... Luke began with the words, “but he” which means “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover Jesus”, “whom God” or “that God the Heavenly Father” “raised again” which means “resurrected and arose from death to life another time” had the following result. Luke shared how “Paul” told the people in the synagogue that Jesus was resurrected to life again by the Heavenly Father God.

The verse continues, “... saw no corruption. Luke added the word, “saw” which means “observed, notice, perceived and experienced” “no corruption” which means “not any destruction and decay of His physical body at all”. Luke shared how “Paul” told the people within the synagogue how Jesus did not experience any “destruction or decay” of His physical body after death.

When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we discover how “Paul” told the people in the synagogue that Jesus' body, unlike King David's, never suffered any decay or destruction. Jesus was raised from the dead, and God was intentional in bringing Him back to life again. God's intention was to save any person who believes and trusts in His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”. When they surrender to Him, He will forgive their sins and grant them everlasting life. God raised Jesus from the dead, and this becomes a preview for everyone who yields to Jesus according to His words, he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live”. (See John 11:25)

Next time Luke shares how Paul says, “through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
