The beloved physician Luke wrote how Paul told King Agrippa, “I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers. Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope's sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews”, and in chapter twenty-six and verse eight of the book of Acts Luke shared how Paul asked King Agrippa, “Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?” where we read:
Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?
The verse begins, “Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, ...” Luke began with the words, “why should it be thought” which means “for what reason and cause should it be determined, resolved and decreed” “a thing incredible” or “something unbelievable or incredulous” “with you” which means “alongside you, king Agrippa” that the following is true. Luke shared how “Paul” asked “king Agrippa” what reason there would be that he would think it “unbelievable” that the following actually existed.
The verse goes on to say, “... that God should raise the dead?” Luke continued with the words, “that God” which means “that the Heavenly Father God” “should raise the dead” or “would and is capable of making the lifeless, without breath and inanimate to arise”? Luke shared how “Paul” questioned “king Agrippa” as to the reason he would not “believe” that “God Almighty” was capable of resurrecting people who had died.
When we consider Luke's words in this verse, we learn how “Paul” spoke specifically to “king Agrippa” as he directed his question to him concerning believing in the resurrection of the dead. Jesus Christ rose from the dead three days after being crucified on the cross for the sins of the world, and anyone who believes and trusts in Him as their personal “Savior and Lord” will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with God. Jesus said, “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believe in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:” (See John 11:25), and anyone who humbles themselves and surrenders to Jesus will be resurrected from the dead and live forever with God. This is the gospel of Jesus Christ, and those who are wise will yield to Jesus and inherit eternal life with Him.
Next time Luke shares how Paul tells King Agrippa how he thought, “to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
