Luke the beloved physician wrote how Festus told King Agrippa, “when Paul had appealed to be reserved unto the hearing of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I might send him to Caesar”, and in chapter twenty-five and verse twenty-two of the book of Acts Luke shared how Agrippa said to Festus, “I would also hear the man myself” where we read:
Then Agrippa said unto Festus, I would also hear the man myself.
To morrow, said he, thou shalt hear him.
The verse begins, “Then Agrippa said unto Festus, I would also hear the man myself. ...” Luke began with the words, “Then Agrippa” which means “at that time Agrippa whose name means hero like and was one of the Herods” “said unto Festus” or “uttered, declared and proclaimed to Festus whose name means festival and was the successor of Felix as procurator of Judea”, “I would also hear the man myself” which means “I, Agrippa, have purpose, are minded and willing as an affection to even so and indeed to attend to, consider and understand the male human being my own self”. Luke shared how “king Agrippa” told “Festus” that he wanted to listen to and attempt to understand “Paul” himself.
The verse goes on to say, “To morrow, said he, you shall hear him.” Luke continued with the words, “To morrow, said he” which means “upon the following day, uttered, declared and proclaimed Festus”, “you shall hear him” or “you, king Agrippa, will attend to, consider and understand the charges against Paul”. Luke shared how “Festus” complied with “king Agrippa's” request and told him he would be able to consider the case against “Paul” on the following day.
When we consider Luke's words in this verse, we learn how “Festus” presented this case against “Paul” in such a manner that “king Agrippa” desired to “hear” the case himself. “Festus” complied with his request and told him he would be able to listen to the charges against “Paul” the next day. God's plan for sharing His gospel through “Paul” was progressing, and the next day “king Agrippa” would also hear about His saving grace through His Son Jesus. God wants the world to know that He loves them, and He has made a way for their sins to be removed so they can live with Him forever in Heaven. Anyone who believes and trusts in Jesus as their “Savior and Lord” will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with God, and those who are wise receive Him and tell others about God's good news.
Next time Luke shares what happened, “ when Agrippa was come, and Bernice, with great pomp”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
