The Oreo Monkey
07/13/18
Twas our noble venture
an African quest
to see preservation
of wild beasts best
To see there the lions
the wildebeests there
the hippos the rhinos
and maybe a bear
So drive did we fast
to station of sort
where mission team ventured
our entrance to court
While waiting for ticket
to thus go within
an African monkey
our car entered in
And once grabbed inside
the pretzel bag first
and dumping the crumbs
and ripping bag burst
When none found within
the monkey barged forth
and grabbed plastic bag
with teeth tore henceforth
The three men in back
now stared there amazed
and one snapping photos
he took with a blaze
For there was no chance
to see this again
for once in a lifetime
this happened to them
Three packets of oreos
were hidden inside
and grab now the monkey
he took with his pride
And once now the cookies
in monkey hands lay
he scurried out window
the opposite way
And gone in a flash
the monkey ran far
the three men in back
now left in the car
When laughter began
the roar of the three
that back in the car
were blissful with glee
The mission's came back
with tickets in hand
and asked what the matter
the three they demand
Thru laughter the three
began to relay
the story the monkey
and it's strong maylay
And telling the story
the three in the back
could hardly compose
their happy distract
Till one of them notice
there sitting above
the oreo monkey
now perched like a dove
He sitting on crown
the roof ticket shed
and other one monkey
was near to his head
They each had a packet
of oreos there
the thief greedy monkey
had cookies to share
And looking below
the thief monkey spied
us looking up toward him
took oreo outside
The packet within
one oreo split
as though he knew thus
the center did lick
And they one by one
the monkey did eat
while watching our mission's
regret their defeat
So oft reservation
we traveled that day
remembering monkey
that caused great maylay
And throughout the quest
though animals saw
the theme of thief monkey
was all we could awe
Till the day ended
and back to the shed
to tell reservation
accounted not dead
When once to the eyes
of the three in the back
saw left in the water
a monkey that lacked
And lifeless he lay
in water so deep
his life now escaped
his breath now was fleet
The mission's returned
to hear their relay
that there lie the monkey
whose life he did save
So when the next time
you oreo lick
think African monkey
and lick center quick
