Paul told the church
members in Corinth, “you are bought with a
price” and therefore they should not be
“the servants of men”.
In chapter seven and verse twenty-four of First Corinthians, Paul
told the church
members who were “called”,
“let every man”,
“abide with God”
where we read:
Brethren,
let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God.
The verse begins,
“Brethren, let
every man, wherein he is called, ...” Paul
began with the word, “Brethren” which
refers to “fellow believers who are united to
another by the bond of affection”, “let
every man” or “allow and permit each,
every, all, the whole and every one of the humans whether male or
female” “wherein”
which means “by and which” “he is
called” or “uttered in a loud voice,
given a name, and saluted”. Paul referred to every person within
the church or Corinth who was “called” unto salvation through
Jesus Christ the Lord.
The verse goes on to say,
“… therein
abide with God.” Paul
continued with the word, “therein” which
means “by and with” “abide” or
“remain, tarry, sojourn and do not depart” “with
God” which refers to “the Godhead bodily
and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and
the Holy Spirit”. Paul exhorted the church members to “continue,
remain and not to depart” from their relationship with “God”.
When we meditate upon
these words from Paul, we see the simplicity of just continuing in
the state we are in when we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior. Paul
referred to these church members as “brethren” or
“brothers” and encouraged them not to be concerned over their
current status sociologically. Jesus desires for all people, no
matter what their position or status, to come to Him. Jesus died for
“all” people, and those who are wise shall simply receive
Him as their “Savior”.
Next
time Paul shares with the church members, “concerning
virgins”, so
read ahead, and we shall join together then.
