Blessed are the Peacemakers Matthew 5:9

Matthew shared how Jesus was “baptized” and “tempted” by the “devil”, and he shared how “angels” ministered to Him afterward. Jesus heard that John the Baptist was thrown into prison, and He left His hometown to dwell in “Capernaum” where He began His ministry. Jesus began to preach saying, “Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand”, and He called Peter, Andrew, James and John to be His followers. As Jesus' fame spread throughout Galilee many others were gathered unto Him, and Matthew continued to write, “And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him, and he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God, and in chapter five and verse nine of his book, Matthew shared how Jesus declared, “blessed are the pure in heart” where we read:

Blessed
are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

The verse reads, Blessed are the peacemakers: Matthew began with the word, “blessed” which means “oh how happy, supremely fortunate and well off” “are the peacemakers” or “are the pacificatory and those who love peace”. Jesus recognized the people who love to make “peace” as “oh how happy”.

The verse continues, for they shall be called the children of God.” Matthew added the words, “for they” which means “because, since and on account that the people who love making peace” “shall be called “” or “will be named as” “the children” which means “kinship and offspring” “of God” which refers to “the Godhead and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Jesus declared “peacemakers” to be among those who will be named as “God's children” .

When we meditate Matthew's words in this verse, we see how God desires to have a family of “children” who are “peacemakers”. People who love “peace” and go about their lives attempting to cause it, are considered to be God's kids. God wants to have a relationship with everyone through His Son Jesus Christ, and as Jesus proliferated these “beatitudes”, He shared how “loving peace” is a characteristic of those within the “Kingdom of God”.

Next time Jesus tells His disciples, “blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
