Jesus Loving His Own to the End - John 13:1

The apostle John wrote how Jesus said, “He that rejects me, and receives not my words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak, and in chapter thirteen and verse one of his book John shared how Jesus, “loved his own … unto the end” where we read:

Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.

The verse reads, “Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, ... John began with the words, “now before the feast” which means “moreover in advance and prior to the festival” “of the passover” or “pertaining to the paschal sacrifice (which was accustomed to be offered for the people's deliverance of old from Egypt)”, “when Jesus” which means “at the time and moment the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation” “knew that his hour was come” or “perceived, understood and discerned that his, Jesus', time and season arose and appeared” “that he should depart” which means “that he, Jesus, was to leave, pass over from one place to another and go forth” “out of this world” or “separate and away from the earth” “unto the Father” which means “to the Heavenly Father God”. John shared how Jesus “understood” that His “specific time” had arisen for Him to leave the earth and return to His Father God.

The verse continues, “... having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.” John added the words, “having loved his own” which means “being fond of, loving dearly and well pleased with his, Jesus', ones who belonged to Him” “which were in the world” or “who were alongside and by Him within the earth”, “he loved them” which means “he, Jesus, was fond of, loved dearly and was well pleased with the ones who belonged to Him” “unto the end” or “to the succession, close, purpose, aim and finish”. John shared how Jesus was “fond of and pleased with” people to the completion and finish who belonged to Him.

When we think through John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus “knew” the timing for His “sacrifice” had come, and He “loved” people who believed and trusted in Him to the “end” of all He came to perform. Jesus appeared in the world not only to demonstrate His love toward people, but also to be the “appeasing sacrifice” for their sins so they may be forgiven and enjoy a personal relationship with God. Jesus is the “Savior and Lord” of the world, and those who examine His purpose and resolve to save people should yield their lives to Him and inherit everlasting life.

A Life Everlasting Commandment - John 12:50

The apostle John wrote how Jesus said, “He that rejects me, and receives not my words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak, and in chapter twelve and verse fifty of his book John shared how Jesus said, “I know that his commandment is life everlasting” where we read:

And I know that his commandment is life everlasting:

whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

The verse reads, “And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: John began with Jesus' words, “and I know” which means “and I, Jesus, perceive, notice, discern and discover” “that his commandment” or “that his, God the Father's, precept, charge, injunction and command” “is life everlasting” which means “life which is real and genuine, active and vigorous, devoted to God, blessed, in the portion even in this world of those who put their trust in Christ, but after the resurrection to be consummated by new accessions (among them a more perfect body), and to last for ever”. John shared how Jesus declared “God the Father's” “order and injunction” is one that exists as “eternal” and remains “forever”.

The verse goes on to say, “whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.” John continued with Jesus' words, “whatsoever I speak therefore” which means “anything that which, I, utter, declare and proclaim then, wherefore and on this account”, “even as the Father” or “according, just as and in the degree that the Heavenly Father God” “said unto me” which means “uttered, declared and proclaimed to me, Jesus”, “so I speak” or “in this manner and thus I, Jesus, utter and articulate”. John shared how Jesus said because God's words are “eternal”, “whatever” He said was from His Father God.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we learn not only that “God's” words are eternal in nature, but also that Jesus spoke the same things when He shared. God loves people, and His desire is to be with them for all eternity. However, “sin” separates people from God, and without their “sin” being removed, they will exist eternally without Him. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for the sins of every person, and when they submit themselves to Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”, they will be forgiven of their sins and inherit everlasting life with God. Let all who read and hear Jesus' words understand they come from God and His desire to provide everyone with everlasting life.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see John share how Jesus, “loved his own unto the end”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

The Father Sent Jesus - John 12:49

The apostle John wrote how Jesus said, “He that rejects me, and receives not my words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day, and in chapter twelve and verse forty-nine of his book John shared how Jesus said, “for I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment” where we read:

For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment,

what I should say, and what I should speak.

The verse reads, “For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, John began with the words, “For I have not spoken” which means “because, since and on account that I, Jesus, have not uttered, declared and proclaimed words” “of myself” or “pertaining to Jesus' own self”; “but the Father” which means “nevertheless, notwithstanding and moreover the Heavenly Father God” “which sent me” or “who dispatched and assigned me, Jesus”, “he gave me a commandment” which means “the Heavenly Father God bestowed, granted, furnished and supplied me, Jesus, with an order, command, charge, precept and injunction”. John shared how Jesus said He did not “speak” about Himself, but rather God His Heavenly Father charged Him with a directive and injunction.

The verse continues, “what I should say, and what I should speak.” John added the words, “what I should say” which means “the words I, Jesus, was to utter, proclaim and declare”, “and what I should speak” or “and the words I, Jesus, was to emit, articulate, utter and tell”. John shared how Jesus said it was His Father God who told Him what to “declare” and what to “articulate”.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus' words and “sayings” were directed from His Father God above. Jesus did as the Father told Him, and because Jesus came to “save” people from their sins, He gave them the words of “salvation” and “rescue” for their “souls”. God loves people, and He desires to have a personal relationship with every one of them through His Son Jesus. Jesus died for the sins of the world, and when a person submits themselves to Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive their sins and grant them everlasting life. Those who are wise will “hear” and “believe” in Jesus and His words.

Jesus' Word Judging - John 12:48

The apostle John wrote how, “I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believes on me should not abide in darkness. And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world, and in chapter twelve and verse forty-eight of his book John shared how Jesus said, “he that rejects me, and receives not my words, has one that judges him” where we read:

He that rejects me, and receives not my words, has one that judges him:

the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

The verse reads, “He that rejects me, and receives not my words, has one that judges him: John began with Jesus' words, “He that rejects me” which means “the person whether male or female who disregards, does away with and refuses to accept me, Jesus”, “and receives not my words” or “and does not lay hold of, claim, procure, seize and possess my, Jesus', sounds produced by the voice and having definite meaning”, “has one that judges him” which means “possesses and owns the following that condemns, puts asunder or pronounces an opinion concerning right or wrong upon that person whether male or female”. John shared how the person who “refuses to accept” Jesus and “does not claim or procure” His “sayings”, has the following to “condemn” and “put him asunder”.

The verse goes on to say, “the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.” John continued with Jesus' words, “the word” which means “the speech and discourse which has definite meaning” “that I have spoken” or “that I, Jesus, have uttered, declared and proclaimed”, “the same shall judge him” which means “the selfsame speech and discourse which has definite meaning will condemn and put that person whether male and female asunder” “in the last day” or “within the uttermost part and end of the earth”. John shared shared how Jesus said the “speech and discourses” that Jesus presented to the people would be their “judge” in the final day of the earth.

When we think through John's words in this verse, we learn how the person who does not “receive” Jesus and His words actually reject Jesus and will be “judged” by the words He said. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to “save” people from their sins, and without Him, everyone will be “condemned” by the words He spoke. There is a “final” and “last day” when people will be “judged”, and the question from God will be, “What did you do with my Son Jesus?” Jesus' words have eternal consequences, and those who are wise will study them carefully and surrender their lives to Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”.

Jesus Not Judging - John 12:47

The apostle John wrote how, “I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believes on me should not abide in darkness, and in chapter twelve and verse forty-seven of his book John shared how Jesus said, “if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not” where we read:

And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not:

for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

The verse reads, “And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: John began with Jesus' words, “and if any man” which means “and whether any person male or female” “hear my words” or “is endowed with the faculty of hearing, perceiving, understanding and discerning my, Jesus', sounds produced by the voice and having definite meaning”, “and believes not” which means “and does not trust in, rely upon, cling to or have confidence in Jesus' words”, “I judge him not” or “I, Jesus, do not condemn, put asunder or pronounce an opinion concerning right or wrong toward that person whether male or female”. John shared how Jesus said He did not “condemn” people who do not have “faith” in His “words”.

The verse continues, “for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.” John added Jesus' words, “for I came not” which means “because, since and on account that I, Jesus, did not arise and appear” “to judge the world” or “to condemn, put asunder or pronounce an opinion concerning right or wrong upon the earth and it's inhabitant”, “but to save the world” which means “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover to rescue the earth and it's inhabitants from danger and destruction”. John shared how Jesus said His purpose for coming to the “earth” was to “rescue” it and not to condemn it.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus did not appear on the earth to “condemn” it, but to “rescue” it. People needed a “Savior”, and Jesus came to be the “Christ” and “Messiah” of God so people could be “saved” from the danger and destruction to come. Jesus died upon the cross to “save” people from their sins, and when they submit themselves to Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive their sins and grant them everlasting life. Those who consider and believe Jesus' words will understand His purpose for coming to the earth and yield their lives to Him.
