Baptized with the Holy Ghost - Acts 11:16

Luke the physician wrote how Peter told the Jewish “apostles and believers” in Jerusalem, “three men were already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me. And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house. And he showed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter. Who shall tell you words, whereby you and all your house shall be saved. And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning”, and in chapter eleven and verse sixteen of the book of Acts Luke shared how Peter told the Jewish believers how he remembered Jesus saying, “John indeed baptized with water; but you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost” where we read:

Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water;

but you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

The verse begins, “Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; Luke began with the words, “the remembered I” which means “at that time Peter recalled and brought to mind” “the word of the Lord” or “the saying, utterance, declaration and proclamation of the One to whom a person or thing belongs, about which he has power of deciding; master, and the title given to God the Messiah”, “how that he said” or “in the manner and way that Jesus uttered, declared and proclaimed”, “John indeed baptized in water” which means “John even so immersed, submerged and dipped people in water for the cleansing of sin”. Luke shared how “Peter” told the Jewish “apostles and believers” how he recalled Jesus saying that “John the Baptist” submerged people in water, however, the following would be true.

The verse goes on to say, “but you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. Luke continued with the words, “but you shall be baptized” which means “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover you, disciples of Jesus, will be submerged, immersed and dipped” “with the Holy Ghost” or “alongside the sacred, pure, morally blameless and religiously and ceremonially consecrated third person of the triune God, the Holy Spirit, who is coequal and co-eternal with the Father and the Son”. Luke shared how “Peter” reminded the Jewish “apostles and believes” of how Jesus told them they would be “baptized” in the “Holy Spirit”.

When we consider Luke's words in this verse, we learn how “Peter” told the Jewish “apostles and believers” that he was reminded of Jesus' words concerning being “baptized” in the “Holy Spirit”. This happened to the Gentiles in Cornelius' home and fulfilled Jesus words before his very eyes. God loves people around the world, and when they submit themselves to His Son Jesus, He will forgive their sins and grant them everlasting life. Those who are wise will yield themselves to Jesus and be willing to be “baptized” in His “Holy Spirit”.

Next time Luke shares how Peter asks the Jewish believers, “what was I, that I could withstand God?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
