If laughter be the
medicine
that my soul doth crave
perhaps a view of
different ones
shall be of all the rave
For cackle, gut,
embarrassed laughs
of much variety
shall bring my spirit low
to high
for rich sobriety
Though fearful laugh be
much the thought
with chirping, high
pitched growl
each he, he, he and tee,
tee, tee
shall heal me here and now
Lest sinister be thus the
laugh
of those both low and high
the evil cynic's guiltless
quest
to take away my life
And guilty laugh from
one's convict
the emptying of soul
the subtle sneer from evil
ones
who quiet voice their role
And ho, ho, ho for jolly
laugh
the declarant of time
though loud and blasting
he doth share
his humor as a mime
The hesitant and stubborn
laugh
with retribution's will
at circumstance and noted
cause
the situation fill
The loud and boisterous
cringing laugh
at death or hurt or pain
and not so subtle be these
ones
for those without a brain
Lest one forget the baby's
laugh
incredulous belief
both unrestrained
unbridled cheer
for all who need relief
And finally the muffled
laugh
in church or quiet place
the catatonic hebephren'
doth easily embrace
So bring thus laughter in
thy life
and with it daily fill
the medicine that quiets
soul
when nothing else quite
will
