John the apostle wrote how Jesus said, “I and my Father are one. Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. Jesus answered them, Many good works have I showed you from my Father; for which of those works do you stone me? The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone you not; but for blasphemy; and because that you, being a man, make yourself God. Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, You are gods? If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken. Say you of him, whom the Father has sanctified, and sent into the world, You blaspheme; because I said, I am the Son of God? If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, though you believe not me, believe the works: that you may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand, ...”, and in chapter ten and verse forty of his book John shared how Jesus, “went away again beyond Jordan” where we read:
And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode.
The verse reads, “And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized;” John began with the words, “and went away again” which means “and left and departed another time” “beyond Jordan” or “on the other side of the one river of Palestine, has its course of little more than 200 miles (300 km), from the roots of Anti-Lebanon to the head of the Dead Sea whose name means descender” “into the place” which means “toward the location” “where John” or “in the place that John the Baptist whose name means Jehovah is a gracious giver” “at first baptized” which means “principally submerged and immersed people in water”. John shared how Jesus left the “Jewish people” who were attempting to “stone and capture” Him and went to a location on the other side of the “Jordan River” where “John the Baptist” was “baptizing” people.
The verse goes on to say, “and there he abode.” John continued with the words, “and there” which means “and at that place and location” “he abode” or “Jesus sojourned, tarried and remained”. John shared how Jesus “stayed” in the place on the other side of the Jordan where “John the Baptist” baptized people.
When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus was on the move again. This time He went to the “other side” of the Jordan River where “John the Baptist” “baptized” people. Jesus knew the timing for every part of His plan to bring salvation to mankind. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to “save” people from their sins, and every place He went was according to His desire to “save” them. Those who are wise will yield their life to Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord” and realize every move He made was to bring them into a personal relationship with God.
Next time John shares how, “many resorted unto” Jesus, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
