Luke the physician wrote after “Saul” saw a great light and heard Jesus' voice on the way to Damascus, he asked, “Who are you, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom you persecute: it is hard for you to kick against the pricks. And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what will you have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told you what you must do. And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man. And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus. And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink. And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord. And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and inquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prays, ...”, and in chapter nine and verse twelve of the book of Acts Luke shared how the Lord said Saul, “has seen in a vision a man named Ananias” where we read:
And has seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in,
and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.
The verse begins, “And has seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, ...” Luke began with the words, “and has seen in a vision” which means “and Saul has observed, noticed and beheld within a spectacle that is divinely granted in an ecstasy or sleep” “a man named Ananias” or “a male human called and known as Ananias whose name means whom Jehovah has graciously given” “coming in” which means “entering the home in which Saul was staying”. Luke shared how the Lord told “Ananias” that “Saul” observed “Ananias” entering the dwelling place in which he was staying.
The verse goes on to say, “... and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.” Luke continued with the words, “and putting his hand on him” which means “and laying, putting and setting his physical hand upon Saul”, “that he might receive his sight” or “so Saul could recover his sight”. Luke shared how the Lord told “Ananias” how “Saul” observed him laying his hand upon him, and his sight would be recovered.
When we consider Luke's words in this verse, we learn how “Saul” was given a “vision” about “Ananias” coming to him, putting his hand upon him and his sight being recovered. “Ananias” was to be employed to fulfill God's “vision” to “Saul”, and this would be a significant time in “Saul's” new life. God loves people, and He uses other people to minister to them. He wants a personal relationship with everyone through His Son Jesus, and when they surrender themselves to Him, He will forgive their sins and grant them everlasting life. Let all who carefully examine the “vision” of “Saul” and the instructions given to “Ananias” know the “Lord Jesus” desires to reach and use everyone who submit themselves to Him.
Next time Luke shares how “Ananias, answered”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
