Luke the physician wrote after “Saul” saw a great light and heard Jesus' voice on the way to Damascus, the Lord spoke to a man named Ananias whom He told to, “Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and inquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prays, And has seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight. Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he has done to your saints at Jerusalem. And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on your name. But the Lord said unto him, Go your way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel. For I will show him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake. And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto you in the way as you came, has sent me, that you might receive your sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized. And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus”, and in chapter nine and verse twenty of the book of Acts Luke shared concerning Saul, “straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues where we read:

And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

The verse begins,And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, ... Luke began with the words, “and straightway he preached Christ” which means “and immediately and forthwith Saul heralded, published and proclaimed the anointed One who is the Messiah” “in the synagogues” or “within the sacred worship assembly of Jews formally gathered together to offer prayers and listen to the reading and expositions of the scriptures”. Luke shared how “Saul” immediately began to “herald and proclaim” about the Messiah Jesus within the Jewish assemblies for worship.

The verse goes on to say, ... that he is the Son of God.Luke continued with the words, “that he” which means “that Jesus the Messiah” “is the Son of God” or “exists as God the Heavenly Father's Son”. Luke shared how “Saul” told the people within the “synagogues” that “Jesus” is “God's Son”.

When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we learn how “Saul” immediately began to “preach” in the places where the Jews assembled for worship. He proclaimed that Jesus was the “Messiah” and “Son of God”, and we shall see how the people respond to his words. God loves people, and He is able to take a person who was ready to arrest and kill the people who believed in Jesus, and and turn them into one who is “preaching” about Him to others. Anyone who yields themselves to Jesus will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life. Afterward they become “witnesses” of the change Jesus made in their lives, and He will use them to share with the world about the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

Next time Luke shares concerning Saul, “all that heard him were amazed”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
