The apostle John wrote how, “There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings, and many of them said, He has a devil, and is mad; why hear you him? Others said, These are not the words of him that has a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind? And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter”, and in chapter ten and verse twenty-three of his book John shared how, “Jesus walked in the temple” where we read:
And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch.
The verse reads, “And Jesus walked in the temple ...” John began with the words, “and Jesus” which means “and the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation” “walked in the temple” or “ambled within the sacred worship place within Jerusalem”. John shared how Jesus “ambled” through the “sacred worship place” in “Jerusalem”.
The verse continues, “... in Solomon's porch.” John added the words, “in Solomon's porch” which means “within Solomon's whose name means peaceful was the son of David and the wisest and richest king that ever lived” “porch” or “the portico built by Solomon in the eastern part of the temple”. John shared Jesus was “walking” within the “portico” which was built by Solomon where people stand or walk and can be protected from the weather and heat of the sun.
When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we learn about “Jesus” ambling through the “portico” portion of the “temple” in Jerusalem. We can imagine all the people who were gathered there, and as Jesus walked through them, He knew His desire to “save” them all. We shall discover what happens in our next verse, but for now let it suffice us to know that Jesus “walks” among people “spiritually” to this day because He desires to minister to every person who will yield their lives to Him.
Next time John shares how the Jews ask Jesus, “how long do you make us doubt? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly", so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
