The Scriptures Cannot Be Broken - John 10:35

The apostle John wrote how Jesus said, I and my Father are one. Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. Jesus answered them, Many good works have I showed you from my Father; for which of those works do you stone me? The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone you not; but for blasphemy; and because that you, being a man, make yourself God. Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, You are gods?, and in chapter ten and verse thirty-five of his book John shared how Jesus began to ask, “if he called them gods … the scriptures cannot be broken" where we read:

If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

The verse reads,If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, ... John began with the words, “if he called them gods” which means “whether he, God the Heavenly Father, named and identified the Jewish people as magistrates and judges”, “unto whom the word of God came” or “to whom God's speech, decree and mandate of moral precepts arose, appeared and came forth”. John shared how Jesus continued with His inquiry of the Jewish people by referring to the way God called the “Jewish people” “gods” as He reminded them of God's “speech and decree” entrusted to them.

The verse continues, ... and the scripture cannot be broken; John added the words, “and the scripture” which means “and the Holy Scripture or Writ” “cannot be broken” or “is not and in no way able to be loosed, unbound, undone, dissolved or dismissed”. John shared how Jesus continued to ask the Jewish people about God's word by stating that the “Holy Scripture” could in no way be “undone, dismissed or dissolved”.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus continued to question the “Jewish people” who desired to “stone” Him by referring to the way God the Heavenly Father “named and identified” the Jewish people as “gods” (little g) in His “word”, and He reminded them of how the “Holy Scripture” could in no way be “broken”. God's word is true, and it is everlasting. Jesus said, Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away” (See Matthew 13:31), and because Jesus came to the earth to save mankind from their sins, His words are true and worth believing. No one else is able to provide eternal salvation to mankind, and those who are wise will “judge” accordingly and surrender themselves to Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”.

Next time John shares how Jesus asks, “say you … you blaspheme; because I said, I am the Son of God”? so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
