In Psalms one hundred and three David said, “The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever”, and in chapter one hundred three and verse ten of Psalms David said, “he has not dealt with us after our sins” where we read,
He has not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
The verse begins, “He has not dealt with us after our sins;” David began with the words, “He has not dealt with us” or “He, Jehovah God, has in no way or manner fashioned, accomplished or made us, David and his people” “after our sins” which means “aft and subject to our, David and his people's, faults, errors and wrongs”. David said Jehovah God did not have His way in opposition to his and his people's errors, mistakes and wrongs.
The verse goes on to say, “nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.” David continued with the words, “nor rewarded us” or “no, and not in any way recompense, repay and requite us, David and his people” “according to our iniquities” which means “toward our perversities and guilty conditions”. David shared how Jehovah God did not repay him and his people for their perversities and wrongs.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David recalled how Jehovah God did not repay him and his people for their sins. They were guilty and deserved to be punished, but God was gracious and merciful to them. God knows our sinful condition, and He wants to forgive our sins. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross to pay the penalty of death for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and not repay us for our wrongs because Jesus paid the price for us. (See 2 Corinthians 5:21)
Next time David says concerning Jehovah God, “great is his mercy toward them that fear him”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
