In Psalms one hundred and three David said, “The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. He has not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities”, and in chapter one hundred three and verse eleven of Psalms David said concerning Jehovah God, “great is his mercy toward them that fear him” where we read,
For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
The verse begins, “For as the heaven is high above the earth, ...” David began with the words, “for as the heaven is high” or “ because, since and on account even like the visible sky, atmosphere and abode of the stars exists exalted, lifted up and loftily” “above the earth” which means “over the land, ground, territory, region and world” the following is also true. David compared the way the skies and atmosphere are over the world to the following idea.
The verse continues, “... so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.” David added the words, “so great is his mercy” or “even so and indeed strongly and mightily exists his, Jehovah God's, goodness, kindness and faithfulness” “toward them” which means “to the people” “that fear him” or “who reverence, are afraid and in awe of Jehovah God”. David said Jehovah God's mighty goodness, kindness and faithfulness exist toward people who are in awe and reverence of Him.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist compared the loftiness of the skies and atmosphere over the world to the immeasurable power of Jehovah God's goodness, kindness and faithfulness toward people who awe and reverence Him. God is worthy to be worshiped and praised because He not only created us, gave us breath and life, but also sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put us in a position to give Him glory, honor and praise for all eternity.
Next time David says, “as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
