In Psalms one hundred and three David said, “as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him”, and in chapter one hundred three and verse thirteen of Psalms David said concerning Jehovah God, “as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions” where we read,
As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
The verse begins, “As far as the east is from the west, ...” David began with the words, “as far as the east” or “from the distance that the eastward direction” “is from the west” which means “exists apart from the westward direction” the following is also true. David employed the distance that the eastward direction is from the westward direction to compared to his next words.
The verse goes on to say, “... so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” David continued with the words, “so far has he removed” or “even so the distance that Jehovah God has made distant, extended and put away” “our transgressions” which means “our, David and his people's, sins, rebellions and revolts” “from us” or “separate and apart from us, David and his people”. David said Jehovah God has made distant and put away his and his people's sins, errors and wrongs like unto the distance of the east is from the west.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David wanted his readers and listeners to know that Jehovah God removes their willful sins of commission and omission from them. It is a good thing that David did not say from the north to the south because we could travel north only so long as that we will be traveling south. However, if we travel to the east, we will never reach the west because we continue traveling to the east. In other words, Jehovah God removes our sins completely from us. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and cleanse us from all unrighteousness “as far as the east is from the west”.
Next time David says, “the LORD pities them that fear him”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
