Wisdom Rests - Proverbs 14:33

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous has hope in his death”, and in chapter fourteen and verse thirty-three of Proverbs Solomon said, “wisdom rests in the heart of him that has understanding” where we read,

Wisdom rests in the heart of him that has understanding:

but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.

The verse begins, “Wisdom rests in the heart of him that has understanding:” Solomon began with the words, “wisdom rests” or “skill, shrewdness and prudence settles down and remains” “in the heart of him” which means “within the soul, mind, will, desires, living being, conscience and seat of emotions and affections belonging to the person whether male or female” “that has understanding” or “who holds, owns and possesses discernment, consideration, knowledge and insight”. Solomon shared how skill and shrewdness settles and remains within the soul, mind and will of the person who possesses insight and discernment.

The verse continues, “but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.” Solomon added the words, “but that which is in the midst of fools” or “however, notwithstanding, nevertheless and moreover what is within the middle and inner part pertaining to people who are silly and foolish” “is made known” which means “is perceived, recognized, acknowledged, considered and revealed by experience”. Solomon said what is within people who act foolishly is openly revealed.

When we think through Solomon's words in this verse, we see how skillfulness and prudence exists within the soul, mind and will of people who possess discernment and insight, however, that which is within people who are silly and foolish is openly revealed. God wants us to have “wisdom” and insight, and He desires that we avoid being among people who are foolish and silly. God loves us, and when we yield our lives to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to live in a wise manner on the inside so that we are known as people of great “understanding”.

Next time Solomon says, “righteousness exalts a nation”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
