Arise and Go with Them - Acts 10:20

Luke the physician wrote how,the men which were sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate, And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there. While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek you, and in chapter ten and verse twenty of the book of Acts Luke shared how the Spirit said to Peter, “arise … and go with them” where we read:

Arise therefore, and get you down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

The verse begins,Arise therefore, and get you down, and go with them, doubting nothing: Luke began with the words, “arise therefore” which means “get up and stand then, wherefore, consequently and on this account”, “and get you down” or “and descend toward the lower part of the house”, “and go with them” which means “and travel and journey with the three men”, “doubting nothing” or “not discriminating, disputing, being at variance or hesitating”. Luke shared how the “Holy Spirit” instructed “Peter” to descend from the rooftop to meet the three men and travel to wherever they desire without any hesitation.

The verse goes on to say, for I have sent them.Luke continued with the words, “for I” which means “because, since and on account that I, the Holy Spirit of God,” “have sent them” or “have dispatched and assigned the three men”. Luke shared how the “Holy Spirit” told “Peter” He was the one who “dispatched” the “three men” to him.

When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we learn how the “Holy Spirit of God” gave “Peter” his next directive. He was to get down from the rooftop where he received the “vision”, and he was to depart with the “three men” who were waiting for him. God sent these “three men” even though “Cornelius” was used to dispatch them. God was intentional in His efforts to spread the gospel of His Son Jesus Christ, and anyone who humbles themselves, repents of their sins and asks Him for forgiveness, will be forgiven and granted everlasting life. Let all who read these words carefully examine this story of “Peter” and “Cornelius” and discover how God is constantly working in the lives of people.

Next time Luke shares how Peter, “went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
