In the book of Daniel, Daniel said, “in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel”, and in chapter ten and verse five of his book Daniel shared how he saw, “a certain man clothed in linen” where we read,
Then I lifted up my eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen,
whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz:
The verse reads, “Then I lifted up my eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, …” Daniel began with the words, “then I lifted up my eyes” or “at that time I, Daniel, raised my, Daniel’s, physical eyes for sight and vision”, “and looked" which means “and perceived, notice, discerned and observed”, “and behold a certain man” or “and lo, look and consider a particular male being” “clothed in linen” which means “arrayed and wearing a white flaxen threaded garment”. Daniel shared how he raised his physical eyes and observed a male being arrayed in a white flaxen threaded garment.
The verse continues, “… whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz:” Daniel added the words, “whose loins were girded” or “whose hip area or waist was encircled or fastened” “with fine gold of Uphaz” which means “by the use of pure gold metal from Uphaz whose name means ‘desire of fine gold’ and was a place famous for it’s gold”. Daniel shared how the waist area of the male being was fastened with pure gold metal from the region of “Uphaz”.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how Daniel raised his “eyes” to observe a “man” who was arrayed in a white “flaxen threaded garment” with a golden feature that covered his waist area. This “certain man” will be instrumental in sharing more with Daniel in our next few verses, but let us be reminded that Daniel was used by God to share His agenda for mankind both at that time and in the future. God knows His plans for us, and part of that plan was to send His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind and to raise Him from the dead after three days. When we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put His Holy Spirit within us to guide us into all truth and to help us know and understand the plans and purposes He has for us in His Kingdom.
Next time Daniel continues to give a description about the, “certain man”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
