In the Twenty-Fourth Day - Daniel 10:4

In the book of Daniel, Daniel said, “in the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision. In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks. I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled, and in chapter ten and verse four of his book Daniel began to tell what happened, “in the four and twentieth day of the first month” where we read,

And in the four and twentieth day of the first month,

as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel;

The verse reads, “And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, …” Daniel began with the words, “and in the four and twentieth day” or “and within the twenty fourth sunset to sunset” “of the first month" which means “belonging to the initial new moon or lunar month of the year”. Daniel said the following occurred on the “twenty-fourth” “day” within the initial lunar month of the year. (April 23rd)

The verse goes on to say, “… as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel;Daniel continued with the words, “as I was by the side of the great river” or “during the time I, Daniel, was positioned beside the banks of the large and exceedingly massive flowing stream”, “which is Hiddekel” which means “that exists as Hiddekel whose name means rapid and was one of the rivers of Eden which coursed east toward Assyria and was better known as the Tigris”. Daniel shared how he was located alongside the large flowing stream or “river” named “Hiddekel” or the Tigris.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how Daniel was located beside the “Hiddekel” or Tigris “river” on the twenty-fourth day of the initial lunar moon or about (April 23rd), and we shall shall see what happens in our next verse while he was there. For now, let us keep in mind that Daniel was being led by Jehovah God into “visions” concerning the future for Israel and us, and included in those mental imageries was the directive of God for His Son Jesus to come to the earth to die on the cross for the sins of everyone. When He was resurrected from the dead after three days, God made access for every person who believe and trusts in Him as their “Savior and Lord” to be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and equipped with His Holy Spirit wherever they are in the world to be commissioned to the service He has in mind for them.

Next time Daniel shares how he saw, “a certain man clothed in linen”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
