In the book of Daniel, Daniel said Gabriel spoke to him, and “as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep sleep on my face toward the ground: but he touched me, and set me upright. And he said, Behold, I will make you know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be. The ram which you saw having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia. And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king” in chapter eight and verse twenty-two of his book, Daniel shared how Gabriel said, “four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation” where we read,
Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it,
four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power.
The verse reads, “Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it, …” Daniel began with the words, “now that being broken” or “at that time the great horn violently wrecked, crushed and ruptured”, “whereas four stood up for it” which means “in the place that four other horns arose in the great horn’s place”. Daniel shared how Gabriel told him “four” other rulers would arise from the first ruler after he was removed.
The verse goes on to say, “… four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power.” Daniel continued with the words, , “four kingdoms” or “four royal reigns and dominions” “shall stand up out of the nation” which means “will arise and be erected from the people group of Greece”, “but not in his power” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover in no way or manner within his, the great horn’s, strength, might and ability”. Daniel shared how “four” other dominions would arise in the place of the “great horn”, but they would not be equipped with the same strength and might.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Daniel how the “great horn” or ruler depicted by the “rough goat” would be removed from power, and “four” other rulers would arise in his place. This is exactly what happened, and because God is omniscient, He caused Gabriel to allow Daniel to know these things. God loves people, and His desire is to have an intimate personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins and was raised from the dead after three days. When we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put His Holy Spirit within us to assure us that He has our future and the kingdoms of the world in His mighty hand.
Next time Daniel says Gabriel talked about “the latter time of their kingdom”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
