God has Confirmed His Words - Daniel 9:12

In the book of Daniel, Daniel prayed to God and said, “O Lord, to us belongs confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against you. To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him. Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets. Yes, all Israel have transgressed your law, even by departing, that they might not obey your voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him”, and in chapter nine and verse twelve of his book Daniel shared how God, “has confirmed his words” where we read,

And he has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven has not been done as has been done upon Jerusalem.

The verse reads, “And he has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil:” Daniel began with the words, “and he has confirmed his words” or “and he, Jehovah God, fixed, established, persisted in and set his, God’s, declarations, utterances and speeches”, “which he spoke against us” which means “that he, Jehovah God, uttered, declared and proclaimed in opposition to us, Daniel and the people of Israel”, “and against our judges” or “and in opposition to our, Daniel and the people of Israel’s, vindicators, governors and law-givers” “that judged us” which means “who governed over, decided controversies and executed judgment over us, Daniel and the people of Israel”, “by bringing upon us a great evil” or “through the means of enumerating and applying to us, Daniel and the people of Israel, a massive and large bad, disagreeable and malignant misery”. Daniel shared how Jehovah God established his declarations in opposition to him and the people of Israel as well as their governor who ruled over them through the means of applying a massive misery upon them.

The verse continues, “for under the whole heaven has not been done as has been done upon Jerusalem.” Daniel added the words, “for under the whole heaven” or “because, since and on account that beneath the entire sky and sidereal heaven where God dwells and other spiritual beings” “has not been done” which means “has never been fashioned, worked and performed” “upon Jerusalem” or “on Jerusalem whose name means teaching of peace and is the chief city of Palestine and capital of the united kingdom and the nation of Judah after the split”. Daniel said  what came upon the city of “Jerusalem” had never before been performed beneath the sky.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Daniel how God kept His words of judgment against him and the people of Israel when they did not keep His commandments. God told them they would suffer if they did not abide by His instructions, and when they ignored and refused to obey Him, they paid the consequences. God knows what is best for our lives, and every one of His commandments and instructions for living are for our benefit and blessing. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, and He raised Him from the dead after three days so when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us the power through His Holy Spirit not only to know His truth but also to be empowered to comply with it.

Next time Daniel says, “as it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
