Not Remembering the Days of His Life - Ecclesiastes 5:20

In the book of Ecclesiastes, Solomon said, “Every man also to whom God has given riches and wealth, and has given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labor; this is the gift of God”, and in chapter five and verse twenty of his book Solomon said, “he shall not much remember the days of his life” where we read,

For he shall not much remember the days of his life;

because God answers him in the joy of his heart.

The verse reads, For he shall not much remember the days of his life; Solomon began with the words, “for he shall not much remember” or “because, since and on account that he, the person, will not recall or bring to mind” “the days” which means “the sunrises and sunsets” “of his life” or “pertaining to his, the person’s, active sustenance and maintenance in living”. Solomon said the person who receives “wealth and riches” from Jehovah God will faintly recall the sunrises to sunsets within his active living.

The verse continues, “… because God answers him in the joy of his heart.” Daniel added the words, “because God” or “since and on account that the Supreme Deity” “answers him” which means “exercises, humbles and responds to him, the person” “in the joy” or “within the mirth, gladness, gaiety and pleasure” “of his heart” which means “belonging to his, the person’s, soul, will and mind”. Solomon shared how the person does not have time to recall or brood over their active living because the Supreme Deity keeps them busy enjoying active living within their soul and mind.

When we think through Solomon’s words in this verse, we see how people are easy to forget the sunrises to sunsets within their lives when they have a personal relationship with Jehovah God. God blesses them with enjoyment of life and gladness so many of the “days” are not even brought to mind. God wants us to be in a personal intimate relationship with Him through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind and raised Him from the dead after three days. When we surrender our lives to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us His Holy Spirit so we will be guided into all truth concerning possessions and the “enjoyment” of having them every day that we live.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see Solomon say, “there is an evil which I have seen under the sun”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
