A Time to Kill, Heal, Break Down and Build Up - Ecclesiastes 3:3

In the book of Ecclesiastes, Solomon said, “to every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted”, and in chapter three and verse three of his book Solomon shared about, “a time to kill, heal, break down and build up”, where we read,

A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

The verse reads, A time to kill, and a time to heal; Solomon began with the words, “a time to kill” or “an occurrence and experience to slay, murder, destroy and ruin”, “and a time to heal” which means “and an occurrence and experience to repair and cure”. Solomon shared how there is an occurrence to slay and destroy as well as to repair and cure.

The verse continues, “a time to break down, and a time to build up;” Daniel added the words, “a time to break down” or “an occurrence and experience to breach, burst through and distribute into pieces”, “and a time to build up” which means “and an occurrence and experience to establish, rebuild and set up”. Solomon referred to the occurrence when something needs to be breached and distributed into pieces contrasted to the occurrence that rebuilds and establishes.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we discover more of the contrasts Solomon presented as redundant and opposite including the occurrence of being destroyed versus the occurrence of being repaired and the occurrence of breaching and rebuilding. God knows the timing for each of these, and He allows us to be involved in them. His desire is to have a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind and was raised from the dead after three days. When we put our faith and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us the wisdom of His Holy Spirit who will guide us into all truth as we experience times to “kill, heal, break down and build up”

Next time Solomon shares about, “a time to weep, laugh, mourn and dance”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
