To Everything There is a Season - Ecclesiastes 3:1

In the book of Ecclesiastes, Solomon said, “God gives to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he gives travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit”, and in chapter three and verse one of his book Solomon said, “to everything there is a season”, where we read,

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

The verse reads, To every thing there is a season, … Solomon began with the words, “to every thing” or “to each, the whole and all acts, deeds and possessions” “there is a season” which means “there exists as a set  and appointed time and occasion”. Solomon declared there to be a set time for all the acts, deeds and possessions that may be experienced.

The verse continues, “… and a time to every purpose under the heaven:” Daniel added the words, “and a time” or “and an occurrence” “to every purpose” which means “to each, all and the whole delight, good pleasure, longing and what is acceptable” “under the heaven” or “beneath the visible sky and atmosphere”. Solomon said there was a designated occurrence for each delight, good pleasure and longing that may be obtained beneath the sky.

When we think through Solomon’s words in this verse, we begin to see him access the amount of time certain “things” and “purposes” have upon the earth. God knows the time and season for all things, and when we have a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins and was resurrected from the dead after three days, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life give us His Holy Spirit who we teach us to trust the “time and season” for all “things” and “purposes” to Him.

Next time Solomon shares about, “a time to be born, die, plant and pluck up”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
