Wisdom Built Her House - Proverbs 9:1

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said of wisdom, “For whosoever finds me finds life, and shall obtain favor of the LORD. But he that sins against me wrongs his own soul: all they that hate me love death”, and in chapter nine and verse one of Proverbs Solomon said, “wisdom has built her house” where we read,

Wisdom has built her house, she has hewn out her seven pillars:

The verse begins, “Wisdom has built her house, ... Solomon began with the words, “wisdom has built” or “ skill, shrewdness and prudence obtained, set up and established” her house which means “her, wisdom's, dwelling place, habitation and abode”. Solomon shared how “wisdom” established and set up it's own dwelling place and abode.

The verse continues, “she has hewn out her seven pillars:” Solomon added the words, “she has hewn out” or she, wisdom, dug, cleaved, made and quarried “her seven pillars” which means “her, wisdom's, sevenfold upright columns, stands or platforms”. Solomon said “wisdom” dug out “seven” columns or platforms upon which it was established.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how “wisdom” constructed and established it's platform. “Seven” is the number of completion, and there is no greater “wisdom” than the “wisdom” of God. Solomon received “wisdom” from God, (See 1 Kings 3:1-15) and God desires to give us His “wisdom” as well. (See James 1:5) He sent His Only Begotten Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide to us His “seven pillars” of “wisdom” when we ask Him for them.

Next time Solomon says wisdom, “has killed her beasts”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
