In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death”, and in chapter fourteen and verse twenty-eight of Proverbs Solomon said, “in the multitude of people is the king's honor” where we read,
In the multitude of people is the king's honor: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.
The verse begins, “In the multitude of people is the king's honor:” Solomon began with the words, “in the multitude of people” or “within the abundant, numerous and great number of human being both male and female” “is the king's honor” which means “exits the adornment and glory of the royal ruler”. Solomon said the adornment and glory of the royal ruler is in the abundant number of people who surround Him.
The verse continues, “but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.” Solomon added the words, “but in the want of people” or “however, notwithstanding, nonetheless and moreover within the lack, ceasing, end and finality pertaining to human beings both male and female” “is the destruction” which means “exists the ruin, terror, breaking and dismay” “of the prince” or “belonging to the potentate, ruler and dignitary”. Solomon said the ruin and finality of the ruler and dignitary is within the lack of human beings around him.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how a ruler is adorned and glorified by an abundant number of people surrounding him, however, a lack of people becomes the ruin and finality of a dignitary. God raises up leaders, and He pulls them down. (See Daniel 2:21). A good indication of the effectiveness of a ruler is whether people gather around him in “honor” or they leave him in ruin and dismay. God desires to be our Supreme Ruler, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind to demonstrate His love and willingness to rule over us. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and gather us around effective leaders who conduct themselves according to His Divine purpose and will.
Next time Solomon says, “he that is slow to wrath is of great understanding”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
