In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Wisdom is too high for a fool: he opens not his mouth in the gate”, and in chapter twenty-four and verse eight of Proverbs Solomon shared about, “he that devises to do evil” where we read,
He that devises to do evil
shall be called a mischievous person.
The verse begins, “He that devises to do evil ...” Solomon began with the words, “he that devises” or “the person whether male or female who plans, calculates, invents and imagines” “to do evil” which means “to form, fashion and commit bad, displeasing, injurious and wicked acts and deeds” will experience the following. Solomon said the person who plans and imagines injurious and wicked deeds will be known as the following.
The verse goes on to say, “... shall be called a mischievous person.” Solomon continued the words, “shall be called” or “will be invited, summoned and proclaimed as” “a mischievous person” which means “a lewd, unusually evil and altogether salacious human being whether male or female”. Solomon said the person who plans wickedness will be known as lewd and unusually evil.
When we think through Solomon's words in this verse, we discover how people who plan and imagine wicked deeds will be known as lewd and salacious, and God desires to save these people. Paul the apostle wrote, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (See Romans 3:23), and “there is none righteous, no, not one” (See Romans 3:10). Paul further wrote, “for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”. (See Romans 6:23) In other words, everyone is guilty of violating God's law and commandments, and they shall die because of their sins. This is the reason He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us His Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth so we avoid planning “mischievous and evil” acts and deeds and look forward to living with Him forever.
Next time Solomon says, “the thought of foolishness is sin”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
