In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “A wise man is strong; yes, a man of knowledge increases strength”, and in chapter twenty-four and verse six of Proverbs Solomon said, “by wise counsel you shall make your war” where we read,
For by wise counsel you shall make your war:
and in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
The verse begins, “For by wise counsel you shall make your war:” Solomon began with the words, “for by wise counsel” or “because, since and on account that through the means of skillful, shrewdness and prudent direction, guidance and advice” “you shall make your war” which means “you, Solomon's readers and listeners, will fashion, accomplish and produce your, battle, fight or engagement”. Solomon said there is value in receiving “wise, knowledgeable and strong”advice for engagements and battles we may encounter.
The verse goes on to say, “and in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.” Solomon continued with the words, “and in the multitude of counsellors” or “and within the abundant, numerous and huge amount of people who give consult, purpose, advice and guidance” “there is safety” which means “there exists salvation, deliverance, rescue, help and victory”. Solomon said there is salvation and victory with an abundance of people who give advice and guidance.
When we consider Solomon's words in this verse, we discover the importance or receiving skillful and prudent advice. Regardless of the battles or engagements we encounter whether physical or spiritual, it is always good to seek the counsel of God's Holy Spirit and people who are aligned with His purposes and will. God loves us, and He gave His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. As Paul the apostle wrote, “for we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (See Ephesians 6:12), and when we believe and trust in Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and equip us with His “counsel” and others who have His wisdom and surround us.
Next time Solomon says, “wisdom is too high for a fool”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
