Pitched in the Valley of Jezreel - Judges 6:34

In the book of Judges we learned how, “all the Midianites and the Amalekites and the children of the east were gathered together, and went over, and pitched in the valley of Jezreel", and in chapter six and verse thirty-four of Judges, we learn how,“the Spirit of the LORD came upon Gideon” where we read,

But the Spirit of the LORD came upon Gideon, and he blew a trumpet;

and Abiezer was gathered after him.

The verse reads, “But the Spirit of the LORD came upon Gideon, and he blew a trumpet;” The writer began with the words, “but the Spirit” which means “however, nevertheless, notwithstanding and moreover the the breath, mind, animation, vivacity, vigor and courage” “of the LORD” or “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “came upon Gideon” which means “fully clothed and arrayed Gideon whose name means ‘hewer’ and was the youngest son of Joash of the Abiezrites, fifth judge of Israel who led the Israelites against the Midianites”, “and he blew a trumpet” or “and he, Gideon, thrust sounded and blasted a curved horn or cornet”. The writer shared how Jehovah God’s vivacity, vigor and courage fell on “Gideon”, and he blasted a cornet or curved horn.

The verse continues, “and Abiezer was gathered after him.” The writer added the words, “and Abiezer” whose name means “my father is help or helpful” and was “a Manassite, called ‘son’ of Gilead, also son of Gilead's sister” “was gathered after him” or “was assembled alongside him, Gideon”. The writer shared how “Abiezer” aligned himself with “Gideon”.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how “God’s Spirit” fell upon “Gideon”, and it was by His power and might that He would defeat his foes. (See Zechariah 4:6) God wants us to do powerful and mighty things in His Kingdom, and when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind and was raised from the dead after three days, He made the way through faith and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord” to be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and given His Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth and give us the wisdom and knowledge to align with those who are purposed by His Spirit to do great works in His Kingdom. (See Matthew 6:33; John 3:16)

Next time we learn how Gideon, “sent messengers throughout all Manasseh”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
