Escaping the Chaos

The Christmas rush, the shopping sales
black Friday deals all round
the cyber Mondays cast thy plan
and steal the restful sound

From thief in mustache thick and black
with belt of discipline's lack
the branding acts that trod thy path
intentioned hateful acts

From hustler's mind didst thou escape
while falsehoods grind and smear
thy thoughts to take and conquer thee
the pains throughout the years

The shows, the movies, the cartoons too
the blaring tv reigns
dispelling quiet from thy life
fills inner soul with pain

Wonderful life and Santa Claus
and Reindeer nose of red
with Frosty's hat and Wonka's treats
the thirty-fourth street sled

Of Ebenezer, Scrooge and Tim
the tiny one with cane
and ghost from present, past and “ore
and Marley's willful bane

With Elf and Charlie, Linus' decree
Polar express and Grinch
Toy Story, Mickey's Christmas too
Twas the night before the squinch

The trumpets, organs, pianos too
the flickerings, the lights
coordinated spans and wreaths
the trees snow covered white

The choirs, the songs and Jingle Bells
with Deck the Halls enshroud
the king of Ding a ling that sung
the instruments clamor loud

The trees the ornaments the lights
the tinsel hung around
the stand, the sap, the wrapping cloths
the needles on the ground

But in the corner lone by self
escaping all the noise
the chatter, clamor, ringing bells
the tunes of joyful poise

Where peace is found whilst thou alone
the still small voice abounds
thine heart to speak directed path
away from joyful sound

And thus thou wise to find escape
the chaos season bright
and move from thee thy soul's despair
that rules within thy night
