Not Knowing What Shall Be - Ecclesiastes 8:7

In the book of Ecclesiastes, Solomon said, “Whoso keeps the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man's heart discerns both time and judgment. Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man is great upon him”, and in chapter eight and verse seven of his book Solomon said, “he knows not that which shall be” where we read,

For he knows not that which shall be: for who can tell him when it shall be?

The verse reads, “For he knows not that which shall be:” Solomon began with the words, “for he knows not” or “because, since and on account that he, the person who is in misery, does not perceive, discern, distinguish or recognize” “that which shall be” which means “what will exist in the future”. Solomon referred to how the person who is in misery does not perceive or discern what will be in the future.

The verse continues, “for who can tell him when it shall be?” Solomon added the words, “for who can tell him” or “because, since and on account of that what person is able to make known, declare, announce and report him, the person in misery” “when it shall be” which means “at the time and moment that which happens will occur”? Solomon questioned what person is able to disclose that which is to happen.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon that no person is able to perceive what will come in the future or the timing for such things to occur. God knows, and because He is an eternal God, He knows our eternal future. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind and to be raised from the dead after three days, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and equip us with His Holy Spirit who will guide us into all truth and empower us to live in a manner that is pleasing to Him and to trust Him with our future.

Next time Solomon says, “There is no man that has power over the spirit to retain the spirit”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
