In the book of Ecclesiastes, Solomon said, “Whoso keeps the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man's heart discerns both time and judgment”, and in chapter eight and verse six of his book Solomon said, “to every purpose there is time and judgment” where we read,
Because to every purpose there is time and judgment,
therefore the misery of man is great upon him.
The verse reads, “Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, …” Solomon began with the words, “because to every purpose” or “since and on account to the whole, all and everyone of the delights, pleasures and desires” “there is time” which means “there exists occurrence, occasion and experience” “and judgment” or “and justice, ordinance, procedure, litigation and execution of decision”. Solomon said there exist an occasion and procedure to each and every desire and pleasure in life.
The verse goes on to say, “… therefore the misery of man is great upon him.” Solomon continued with the words, “therefore the misery of man” or “wherefore, then and on this account bad, disagreeableness, malignancy and displeasure” “is great upon him” which means “exists as abounding, strong and exceedingly numerous on him, the person”. Solomon said malignancy and displeasure abounds within a person who understands there exist a “time and judgment” for each and every act, deed and “purpose” performed by people.
When we think through Solomon’s words in this verse, we see how Solomon continued to share concerning the person who does not know the future. They are aware that there will be a particular occasion for “judgment” to come, and this displeasure is pronounced and abundant upon them. God knows our future, and His desire is to spend all eternity with us. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and He resurrected Him from the dead after three days, so when we put our faith and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and fill us with His Holy Spirit so we know His truth concerning our future and the “judgment” that is to come.
Next time Solomon says, “he knows not that which shall be”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
