Living with Venom - Equipped for Battle

The conversation was between two men who were strangers to one another, but one man dominated the communications. His rant was about how this was bad and that was bad, and the anger on his face manifested his displeasure with every topic of which he spoke. Although he was benefited greatly by the institution of which he complained, he continually railed upon them and everyone who was represented by their cause. As he spoke, the more quiet gentleman began to fell the very angst within the other man's soul, and for a moment he understood that the disjointed complainer was living with venom in his soul.

How is it that people become so angry at everything? How is it that one begins to look at their entire existence with such misery that everywhere they trod there seems to be nothing but venom that pours from their lips? How does one become so bitter within life that no only do they repel friends and associates, but they distance themselves from the entire human race. No one wants to be around them unless they are others just as bitter and venomous. Misery does love company. Perhaps their angry demeanor has an origin. Perhaps there is an explanation. Perhaps it takes time to penetrate their shell, and who will be longsuffering enough to endure their anger?

Maybe the quick solution is to realize that venom has its source. Usually it comes from a spider or snake or some other creature that uses the poison to stop predators, immobilize enemies or ready its food. If one could imagine that a venomous person has been bitten a few times, there might be a way to empathize with them. But then again, there are those individuals who seem to have fallen into a snake pit and are bitten not only by accident and without warning but also because they continually play with poisonous creatures who corrupt their very soul.

Until tomorrow...Why Say More?
