A Widow's Tears - Equipped for Battle

Her eyes are downcast and trepidation is revealed through her quivering voice. For the first time in her life she will be making decisions on her own. She married rather young, and being the youngest in her family, her parents spoiled her. Her husband of over thirty years took over where they left off. Now he was gone. The reason? Complications from agent orange in Vietnam was the cause. He fought for his country, and now the result was that one of the weapons of choice for the Vietnam war was the very weapon that took his life. He was now gone, and his widow was left behind.

As she received the devotional book “Equipped for Battle – From Generation to Generation” tears began to flow down her face. She kept saying, “This is exactly what I needed.” For a moment, the experience was awing, and now more of the full revelation of the effect of this devotional was being realized. As she read through a few of the excerpts, tears continue to flow from her face because someone cared enough to write something that would help her to make it through such a tough time.

She was gracious, thankful, and so happy to have some connecting piece that would be used every day as she was now fighting her own battles alone. As she left the area where she received the book, she grasped it tightly as if to say, now I have my tool, now I have my weapon, and now I have the resolve to make it on my own. Her tears were turned into joy, and her smile made every word written in the devotional worth telling everyone who knows the time of tears about such a valid resource.

Until tomorrow...Why Say More?
